Canadian Heroes

We had three families over this afternoon to transport stuff out of our house into theirs. They got some things they can use; we will get a chance to start a brand new home there in China, and here when we come back. All happy!

Because her family ran out of options, I had to act as Rachel's "method of transportation," in her own words that made me feel honored as a trustworthy auntie. I rushed out to pick up her up from her house and drop her off at her Olympic Math class.

As I stepped back in our house, I was overcome by a very strong artificial fragrance. My daughter at home, playing with two friends' kids and being supervised by her Dad somewhere around but out of sight, had sprayed air-refresher on her hair, all over. She looked like she just had a shower. I had to give her a shower to rinse it off. When I told Rachel about what happened, she went, "Wow, Sienna, you are Canadian hero!" Rachel has this new expression.

So I brought Rachel to our house after the class. We were hooking up each other on the Facebook. She said she got a great quotation, that of her own creation. I said, oh, oh, I had one of mine too. We rushed to a Japanese restaurant without swapping our quotations. Now I took a peek at her Facebook. This is what she has: "Sometimes the only way to move forward is to start over." Wow, what a great quotation, out of the mouth of a 12 year old. Rachel, you are Canadian hero!

That sums up what we are doing: we are starting over a new home to move forward. Not the only way. But hey, what a nice way! We are all Canadian heroes for the day!
