First Day of School, Once More
Before I figured out what to do with the transportation, we decided Sienna will be taxied to school back and forth everyday. It’s 5 minutes drive around 3am. During the 8am drop-off or 3:15pm pick-up time, it’s between 15 to 30 minutes. Everybody tells me that I should not complain considering the notoriety of the capital city's traffic.
When I went in the afternoon, she came out of there with a beaming smile. It was a miracle, I saw no sign of her having been thrown in a new environment for the whole day. In fact, she told me one of her classmates was also from Canada. The whole sector of the school contains kids of returning Chinese from overseas and Westerns. The environment is nearly identical to her preschool back in Canada. I also love the fact that they use the local school’s textbooks. I still couldn’t believe how smooth this school thing has been. She’s got to learn mandarin and she’s got to keep her “life style” somehow.
