Basic Utensil Utilities

Compared with Canada, shopping is like stealing in China. Things are so cheap if you stick to basics. You are also allowed to include massages and facials as your basics. As long as you don’t have to change your LV purses and CD sunglasses according to the change of your moods or weather, you live in luxury and abundance.

Because the basics are so affordable, from my point of view, you are so tempted to go for the high ends. These cookware pieces and the knife set were so worth my attention and CND$700. I got them, knowing there was a whole new cooking style to pick up with. The sales girls there use them to cook all kinds of dishes, stir frying, baking cakes, making stew… They did them all, like a piece of cake.

The first day of owning them, I fried 8 eggs with no success. A week later, I made a bit progress using the wok to stir fry green veggies. A couple of days ago, I forgot and left it burning while heating up rice. The lady who cooks us dinner switched back to regular wok right after trying two dishes.

I don’t blame the excellent selling and demonstrating skills of the girls in the store. Beauty in its various forms also appeals to a basic person like me. Even I will never learn how to use them properly. They will have at least some basic purposes to serve - I will just go into the kitchen to look at them and feel them. Also they will last so long than any utensils in the kitchen that I can pass them on to Sienna and her children. It will happen sooner than other inheritance because the days are not too far away when I cannot carry these heavy steel pieces.
