A House of Children

At dinner time today, we had 5 kids in the house. Besides the daughter of our own, there were my brother’s two teenage sons, the neighbor’s visiting friends’ 9-year-old daughter and our neighbor’s 1-year-old son whom I was baby-sitting for the afternoon. I started to suspect whether having more children does mean more work. Sienna is completely into her world of friendship and play. I will just give out orders and praises whenever I like, here or there. What a blessing!

Those two boys are certainly a lot of work when they weren’t trained to do their own work when they were young. It was a good thing they spend the day in the studio doing their art. After we had brunch, we were walking down the stairs from a restaurant in a hotel. Sienna was the one who stood besides the elevator door for our friend with a baby to exit. Those two 6-feet boys just walked out obliviously. As much as Sienna always surprises me with what she can do, they surprised me what they cannot do.
