Conference 1 - A Little Misunderstanding

We went for the teacher's conference yesterday. The best compliments for a 3 year old from a teacher aside. Here is a story.

Last week we got the second storybook "The Tin Man" in the book bag with a sticker that says, "January 15, 1-3." My understanding was that we could keep the book for 1 to 3 days. I kept the book in my bedroom. On the forth day, I let the book go and I asked Dad to tell the teacher if we could keep the book for a couple of days more. The assistant teacher didn't quite understand why Dad had concerns, especially when she found out Sienna was reading out the book easily and fluently throughout... Anyways, the book did come back with another note: "January 18, 4-6." I thought it was nice they let us keep for another 4 to 6 days... Just found out from the teacher those numbers "1-3" and "4-6" actually meant the page numbers. She was only supposed to read page 1 to page 3 for the first day. The book bag needs to go back and forth everyday. This way parents and the teachers can then be on the same pages to re-enforce the reading. What a misunderstanding and misuse of the book bag system!

On the other hand though, it's good to know Sienna mastered the reading of the 16-page storybook in a day or two, by accident, while she was only expected to read up to page 3.
