I Love Birthday Parties

This doesn't change my previous statement about not wanting to be a holiday/birthdy celebration person like my friend Abby. To be more exact, I love going to birthday parties of Sienna's little friends. There, I can observe how the kids play together, mingle with other parents, get really nosy about all tits and bits that I die to know.

Today's birthday boy is turning 3. The party was full of decorations, toys and food. They even put up a puppet show in a recreation room of a condominum complex. At least half kids from the class were there. When Sienna started CASA program, she was not even 2 and half years old. She was the youngest one in the class, the only one who was born in this century, considering 2001 as the beginning of the century. Now I realized she is among the older kids in the class. One of the best things I like about Montesorri system is the mixing of kids of different ages in one class. The younger ones have people to look up to. The older ones could help while acknowledging their own progress.

The most comforting thing to know today is that all the parents I talked to agreed that we like the teachers in the class. The students/teacher ratio is way beyond what the school promised us to be, which was 8:1. But as long as she is happy and progressing, I don't care if she is one of the hundred kids the teacher has to deal with.

Even Olivia's mom and dad noticed Sienna's change of personality, how she has become more open. At the same time, Olivia is also a changed little girl who is a lot calmer, concentrating more on learning. We are all happy for our kids.

That's why I like these birthday parties.
