2 Parties in 2 Days
What a difference does one week make weather wise?! Last weekend, it was G for Gross, this weekend, it's been G for Gorgeous. The heating stopped working short of demand from the themostat. Think about it, there are only a few days like this in the entire year when you can actually walk outside without feeling too cold or too hot. And yet, we still didn't get to take a walk.
Back late from our party last night, we slept in this morning. Sienna watched some TV and did her home work. I prepared the brunch -- whole wheat / cooked jumble shrimp sandwich and a scrambled egg soup with sprinkled rice wine from my home town... I find a bright sunny weekend motivates me more to do the clean up because dust and dirt become more visible and less tolerable. Today was just one of those days... In the afternoon, we had a play date with Olivia. With kids scream through the hall, I even had a nap on the couch at Olivia's place. Then we were heading out way to another party with a whole BBQ duck from a near restaurant as our contribution.
We hardly know the hosting couple by person. But this guy's late mother was like Marilyn Monroe in China. And my grandfather was the playwright for some of the 43 movies that she starred in. Anyways, they live in this huge mansion not far from our house. The whole space is like a furniture's show room (either a compliment or a critique, just a description). And they make their living by running a Clinic of Chinese Medicine. On the wall, there are photos they took with our prime minister. I am very happy for them for the kind of life and work they engage themselves in. They accumulate their wealth and promote the Chinese medicine at the same time. Their have a beautiful pair of daughters who gave us a talent show playing piano and singing... And a DVD was being play showing the younger 14-year-old figure skating 2 years ago. She used to go to the same ballet instructor as Sienna is going to today. Sienna was amazed, as usual, when she sees an older talent. I love to expose her to this kind of environment. Girls can have so much fun playing all kinds of things, not just being a princess...
