Meetings, More Meetings
It has been an extraordinary long day today. We didn't have to drag Sienna through it. But some of the friends wanted to see her. We might as well set out the day bringing her along.
The mysterious guy who acquired Lui's Golden Apple painting through an auction presented himself. Through Lui's classmate, he text-messaged us last night asking for a meeting over lunch. We met at an art show.
We also met our old friend Jiang who is a PR person for Boeing China. Together with Jiang, we went to see yet another old friend Bao on the west end. Skinny Bao is loaded with assets nowadays. In our eyes, he is still the guy who delievered Chinese take-out in a small town Ontario while giving Lui driving instructions along the way. So happy to see someone whom we were once worried so much about now is doing so well.
At night, we called taxi to visit Wan out in the neighbouring county where
he and his artist wife share a studio, size of a theatre. Wan was the one
who used to teach me how to play keyboard. The valuable lesson that I never
learnt was how he told me "listen, listen." In the morning I was in front of his remarkable installation at the show and called him to congratulate his evolution in art. "Listen, I usually don't admire any artist other than my husband..."
