Christmas Tradition
For the past few years, going out with our Jewish friends for a movie and eating Chinese food afterwards have become our Christmas tradition. Today's movie was "the Pursuit of Happyness" starring Will Smith and his actual son. It was based on a real life story about how a guy became a big money making tycoon of a investment company, from a homeless status. Basically a small guy with a big dream finally made it big.
The notion of pursuing big dreams is often overrated is also misleading. There doesn't even exist a fine line between a big dream and a fantasy. The guy simply did what he was supposed to do in order to survive. Some people who survive happen to be thriving along the way, in other people's eyes. I don't think they carry a bigger dream above their head. I would rather call it "making the best out of even the worst situation." And this is the ability more important than the persistent pursuit of happiness.
Besides the usual Christmas routine, I spent whole day cleaning up the house no time to do any of it. The big motivation was that our
Christmas buddies were coming to drop by. After dinner they did come, streamlining into Lui’s studio and then one by one we came back to sit in the living room chatting over some red wine. Poor Lui is so pressed with time because of the coming event in NY. He couldn't make it to be part of the routine today. I brought back some left over for him.
