Raising a Good Citizen

We were not sure if Sienna’s fever was gone for good. So I let her sleep in this morning. When she woke up herself, she asked one of her most frequently asked questions, “What time is it?” When she heard it was 8 o’clock already, she threw a fit. I explained the reason why I didn’t wake her up on time. No use. “I cannot be late for school, mommy!” she insisted, “You have to start the day again for me!” I, a self-proclaimed all-mighty mother, turned powerless when it came to turning back the time. Don’t all the kids want to be late or better still, skip the school? Isn’t being sick the best chance to do that? She is one of a kind kid.
