Great Minds Think Alike

Instead of labeling ourselves as “atheists,” we have always tried to explain like this: We are not church goers. We are not religious but spiritual. Maybe Einstein experienced the same kind of ambivalence when he had to offer his religious view.
We cannot imagine though someone as intelligent and intellectual as Einstein would be as religious as church goers would like him to be. So when this letter went on the auction, the husband jumped up wanting to place a bid. Seriously, I would have gotten it at a heart beat if it was the estimated £6000 – £8000.
In the letter, Einstein wrote in 1954, unequivocally: "The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish.” Just what we would like to hear. Just what we would like to say. I actually called the auction house in London an hour after the sale was made on the 38th bid. Well, at least 38 other people apart from us share the same view, enough to make us feel that we are not alone. It's even better in this case because "great minds think alike."
