i am a proud canadian today

the Supreme Court of Canada just ruled for the same-sex marriage. that's huge in the decision itself as well as in what it implies. there are two other countries in the world where the union is legal. it displays the nature of that country -- open-minded, liberal and tolerant, all the elements that make up a modern society. the moral behind it had been one of the major factors deciding the outcome of the latest U.S. election. no wonder the depressed democrats from America are coming to Canada in doves looking for the fresh air.

there is a saying. in America, as soon as you land, you tend to call yourself "American." in Canada though, as long as you live, you tend to always identify yourself with the place you came from, "Chinese" or "Italian" and so on so forth. today, I feel especially proud of my country. this time, I mean Canada, the country that I've become a citizen for over a decade.

Canada is truly a "united nations." it represents what the world is going to be integrated into -- no matter how big the hurdles are in the way.

anyways, I turned to my openly-gay colleague whose desk is next to mine and asked openly, "hey, do you have a wedding date yet? I hear the wedding bell ringing for you. read the news!"
