the Phone Eater

At work, I have been working on an online service component for our Client Service Department. The contact person G is therefore my client, who gives me their business requirements and helps me test the product I deliver. There were brief phone conversations with him. But mostly our exchanges were carried out via email.

This morning I got a phone call from my client G about some security issues that need to be resolved through a third party. Throughout the 10-minute phone call, I kept being distracted by some carrot-eating noise from the other end of the line.

Hanging up the phone, I started talking to myself, "Was it in my head? Or was G really eating some carrots when I was talking to him?" C heard me and went, "Oh, he was eating something. He always eats or drinks when he is on the phone. He is a phone eater." But why? I still cannot believe what I heard, especially considering Mr. G looks particularly formal and all about business.

Wherever I go or even when I just sit at my desk, I really meet interesting people. Maybe that's because I am so interested in them. Sometimes the encounters can be pleasant. And I don't really complain if they are not. Interesting things and people are not always pleasant, right?
