Fireworks Before the Fireworks
Last night on our way home, we observed fireworks shooting up here and there up on the sky. Sienna was so scared of fireworks when we took her in the past. That's why I didn't even think of going this year. Now she wanted to see more of them.
Today on our way back from our Mongolian grill brunch, Dad bought a bunch of fireworks. We decided to go out and met with Rachel to enjoy the fireworks together. While we were at home, I started playing Pocahontas DVD to Sienna. She has been obsessed with Cinderella. She was asking to me to read Pocahontas to her in the past few nights. The image of dark-haired and courageous Pocahontas would be such a nice change for her taste. When she was much into the DVD, we asked her to leave with us for the fireworks. That was a major interruption. She threw a fit and refused to go. I had to carry her into her booster seat.
That is a flip side of her long attention span or concentrating power. She cannot be dragged here and there all day long simply because there are new things to be seen. She takes her own pace. Sienna needs serenity...
It's nobody's fault. We do everything to make her happy. But sometimes we do miss a shot or two. In that case, she will have to compile. It's a good training to make her understand our intention, bit by bit. Also it's a chance for her to know the universe doesn't evolve around her.
Knowing where we stand, I sit back and let her firework fly on it's own. I didn't get upset and I didn't try to comfort her either. And of course, we had a blast enjoying the fireworks at a school yard...

oh, she could be just as good at having a fit... only she couldn't get worse because she normally doesn't get what she wants doing it...
