the Chinese Gongfu

It's been a long day today. I worked as usual. On top of that, I drafted a "To Whom It May Concern" letter. I pleaded, on behalf of my friend, that the US government grant an asylum to her mother, a Falun Gong practitioner, as she is likely to face persecution upon her return to China since her sister was already imprisoned because of her involvement...

Morally, I am for humanity and freedom. At the same time, I have zero ability to stop any government's cruelty of persecuting people due to their belief. That leaves me wonder what's the worth of one's belief compared with one's life. First of all, the belief one has in terms of religion and ideology is usually held by tens of million of other people. What's the use of holding it on to your dear life? It's humanely wrong to risk one's life and freedom to defend a belief system that promises life and freedom. It never hurts to keep an open mind towards any belief systems. Taking a light heart to see the relativism is also very important. Sienna might one day take on some kind of religion herself. I cannot stop her. But I will alwarys make her practice some of my very own brand "Chinese Gongfu" on the side. The bottomline is that adopting a belief system, Falun or anything else, doesn't make you a complete person unless you develop your very own.
