Pretend Play
I heard some girls at Sienna's age are very big at pretend play. Sienna is also exploring the idea of being a Princess, i.e., the dress codes and the mannerism of being one. We know she wants to wear her dress 24/7 if she has her way. And she is very particular about what she wears. But I think Sienna is too realistic to get into the pretend play of the princess scenarios. Once, I overheard her saying to her little friend, "all right, you be the princess, I am Cinderella, it's just pretending..."
She tends to play cashier or a dentist, things she watches and takes part in real life. She addes Once she plays out her teacher doing class attendance, citing close to 30 kids' full names, alphabetically -- nobody being missed out. Lately she pretends to write letters to a world of people, filling up pages with her own words in cursive. She always says "pretending", but it's more like in an "if" statement. Last night, she asked, "mommy, pretending I am 5 years old tomorrow. what are you going to get me for surprise?"
