Ebay Drama, Continued...

I should have been writing a movie script. Instead, I need to make a long story short. The guy who wanted to buy fridge from my eBay listing didn’t’ get it that night. Somebody placed the bid after him. Yet, he got my phone number from eBay and called my house, demanding that I withdrew the list. Afterwards he sent me more emails asking questions about the fridge and called again to talk to the husband. I tried not to upset him. At the same time I tried everything to avoid him getting the fridge. The idea of him coming to the house frightened me. And yet, he still managed to win the item double the money he originally wanted to pay. I told the husband to let him take the fridge regardless whether and how much he pays.

He finally came with his wife and young kids. to pick up the fridge I was a bit relieved that he is not particularly a troublesome person which he appeared to be by everything he does. After the pickup he continued to write to me and slightly complaint that he missed the first possible tenant. Then yet another email came asking for owner manual... Very weird and scary person.

I got a little taste of how people got stalked and harassed with all kinds of reasons. It will not change the way I live my life but I certainly learn a thing or two on eBay, a big part of the internet life. I should have given the cell phone number instead of home number to eBay. Local pick up is not a good idea. All in all, it was a scare that didn’t end in a terror.
