A Little Lucky Break

I consider myself a lucky person in general. I admit that I have very little luck in winning lottery, prizes or gambling. Accepting that, I don’t usually go all my way out to participate in those sorts of activities. That doesn’t rule out a little effort every morning to roll up the rim of my Tim Horton empty coffee cup in case any luck of winning gets thrown out with the garbage. “Please play again” is a familiar line as I see it over and over again.

After dinner tonight, I was disposing an article into the garbage can under the sink. A Tim Horton cup suddenly appeared on the surface. I had emptied the cup yesterday morning and damped it without examining the rim. Uh, I almost threw out my luck! Ignoring the relevant scene of George Costanza eating a cake from garbage in Seinfeld, I quickly picked up cup and rolled up the rim. No word “again” to be seen. Excellent sign. It turned out to be the first ever prize I ever won, a free cup of coffee.

What’s special about this cup was not just it’s experience to be in the garbage and back. It was the coffee Sienna’s Godfather brought to me to the house. It was his pick of luck that I picked up to become my luck. What a twist of luck! Tomorrow morning I will take it all the way to Tim Horton for my little break in luck. I treasure my luck no matter how little and how hard it comes by.
