Checking In For the Chess

It takes a week for Sienna to overcome her jet lag. On the first night we returned, she was falling asleep around 4pm and up at 1am. No fuss, she was just done with her sleeping for the day. She managed to stretch her time of retiring for an hour each day. Daddy volunteered to keep her rhythm with her so that I could go back to normal immediately. I am so very grateful!

Last Saturday, I took Sienna for her piano lesson after nearly a month of absence. To our surprise, she was playing a number from before like she never stopped. In fact, she showed a greater control because she got to pull away from piano for this while. Our friend, Yiga, the teacher, cannot stop describing how special she is with the tempo, her listening and feeling. Like a typical Chinese mother, I said, "You need more practice, and then you will be so great...". Sienna went, "Yeah, yeah yeah, I need more breakfast..."

We signed her up for gynastics at school. Last Friday she came home with some chess home work. Somebody took her to the chess class -- by mistake apparently since we never signed her up. But Sienna said she loved it as she beat somebody out the first time. So when the school called to ask for a check for chess class this morning, I said "Yeah, yeah, yeah... she is in."
